Moments
The sweetness of the day surprises me,
sunshine after the rain and birds’ songs
enveloping the world around, leaves blowing
gently on the trees, and my body learns
to rest in a sacred calmness, unaware
of many troubles as my focus shifts
to one thing I can control: my breath.
A deep inhale and an anxious-free exhale,
allowing vitality to slowly swell in my veins,
a release of mental stress as clarity restores
my internal vision, and the soft waves
of pleasure flow outward from my core,
relaxing my shoulders as my heart eases
into the present moment, grateful to be still
in an ever-moving world; the motion within
invigorating my senses as it cleanses away
the debris of past moments, making space
for my lungs to expand without limit.
My eyes awaken to a golden glow adorning
the landscape, as if the leaves themselves
were dripping in oil, and a radiant aura
pulses outward from within me as the birds
continue their singing and chirping; my mind
enlivened to the simple pleasures of life,
which pass us by as we pursue future moments,
always speaking gently and sweetly to the soul
that chooses to stop and stay a moment.
