Chasms of confusion cracked open wide
like vaults of mysteries and raining surprise,
unleashing torrents of palpable pain
within the soul that has nothing to gain
and nothing to lose — a somber truth
while drinking deep from the fountain of youth
with a careless air
and a wanton breeze
‘til the heavens tear
and the fires freeze —
How long until forever fades?
Alas! the night has turned to day!
How far until the soul can rest?
At least one more and ten more steps!
A home not far beyond the trees,
where shrouded leaves will change to sky,
and finally the soul can see
a lifting fog and a sparkling mist
with bated breath and a naked eye:
witnessing heaven and earth’s first kiss,
a sight unlike any figment of man,
while tears of joy as the chasms cry
burst forth and heal the broken land.
