Suspended Turquoise Lanterns

Suspended turquoise lanterns from a mirror
on the wall, conversation fills the air,
and a window looks out to a window:
mirrors pull into another world,
while windows pull outside one's self
to a new land, a different setting,
with landscapes waving from the wind;
the colors paint their own story,
inviting one to join a different scene,
painting a new chapter of one’s own story ––
for in these walls exist endless possibilities,
endless stories only half-written, beginning
as soon as the main character takes the pen
and becomes her own author.
