Myst’ry’s Nest
To the depths of my mind I oft recess
through castle halls and cavern walls;
through foggy forests to Myst'ry's nest
across the seas both dry and wet;
from hearing squalls in waterfalls
to pirate ships and treasure chests;
from flying weightless on the wind
to ocean's floor and Heaven's rim;
from feeling heart so close to heart
spark, ignite, combust, depart
and leave a hole where whole was felt —
froze as fast as it had melt; —
and searching yet to fill again
the emptiness enslaved within
I find the fire barely kindled,
for rarely has one so been swindled
swiftly, soft and sweet as I:
desiring lips don deceptive eyes.
Ah, my dark and dreary mind
drinking dreams from weary times
and dropping demons in my view
recalling rhymes I wrote for you;
filling me with fantasies
of hopeful possibilities
if try and try again I will
to love like love was never killed.
