Lord, You Have Directed My Steps

Lord, you have directed my steps
through good times and bad,
never condemning my mistakes
but admonishing me to live lower,
to be simple in my walk with you,
and celebrating my accomplishments
which you encouraged me through,
always rejoicing over who you've made me to be;
you've brought peace like a river to my heart
in times of trouble, and a soft expression
works its way throughout my face
as my eyes gladden by your love ––
your love, which makes my heart tremble
as I contemplate who you are;
your love, which paints my world
in overarching golden streaks of gentleness;
your love, which has never abandoned me,
even when the shadow of death loomed heavily;
your love, which is a light for my path
as I walk from the confines of darkness
into your righteousness like waves of the sea.
